The 50th Pro-Am for Kids

The 50th Pro-Am for Kids was held on Monday, July 8 at the Elm Ridge Country Club. A trio of amateur players had the chance to play with a professional from the PGA of Québec.

For the championship on the South Course, Yohann Benson gave his opponents no chance. 8 birdies and 2 eagles... quite convincing! He becomes $1000 richer

"60, it's my best round in competition," he said confirming his score of the day.

He unfortunately had to go on to other commitments at his club (Le Mirage) but he wanted to thank all those who made this day possible before hitting the road.

For his part, on the North course, Yann Béland had a goal in mind which was to make no 5s. He was happy to reach it and make his 20-foot putt on his 18th hole. "I don't look at the scores... I had a feeling that putt could make a difference." 

Yann wins the $1000 purse!

The Pro-Am of the North course was won (-20) by the team of Valérie Tanguay (La Vallée du Richelieu), Lisette Pelchat, Ryan Tomicic and Antoine Mourad. Anne-Marie Gouin and her team of amateurs won on the South Course with a score of -28.

2nd place in the pro-am - South course : The team of David Girard-Allard (Laval-sur-le-Lac), Andreas Gaitanis, Jack Mignacca and Peter Tolias (-23).

Funds raised at the Pro-Am for kids are donated to Franny's Fund and the Hadassim Children's and Youth Village at CHW. The purse for professionals is offered by Gary Hutman of Cellcom.

Dom Lalonde (St-Anicet) and Marco Plasse (La Vallée du Richelieu), winners of the 2023 edition, were not there to defend their title.

Craked Canoe beer was once again appreciated in this hot and humid weather. To the delight of the players, Accès physio was once again there to offer treatments before their game.

Here are the PGA of Québec professionals who have received their exemptions to participate in the Victoriaville Fenergic Canada Cup: Willam Blanchard, Yann Béland, Sonny Michaud, Caroline Ciot, Yohann Benson, Éric Laporte, Marc Hurtubise, Valérie Tanguay, Jérémie Emond, Antony Godbout, James Colin Davis, Marc-Olivier Plasse, Étienne Brault et Phillipe Gariépy. 

The next PGA of Québec event is as soon as next week. It will be the Women's golf Pro-Am that will be played at Le Blainvillier on July 15.
