Charlevoix, September 23, 2024 – The first two rounds of the Coupe Hôtel-Casino de Charlevoix were a spectacular game on Monday on the fairways of the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. First, in the championship division, the duos of William Blanchard (Rosemère-Fontainebleau) / Billy Houle (Joliette), Alexandre Ouellette (Le Blainvillier) / Louis Bourgeois (Le Blainvillier) and Frédéric Raymond (La Tempête) / Sonny Michaud had a perfect day with two wins and are at the top of their respective groups with 4 points.

Blanchard and Houle won 8 & 6 against Alex Beauregard (Le Portage) and Dave Beauregard (Joliette), before winning  1 up at the very end of the second round against the pair of Simon Forest (Le Portage) and Anthony Godbout (Longchamp).

The latter are tied at two points for second place in the Fairmont group with Eric Laporte (Montcalm) and Philippe Mongeau (Beloeil), while Alex and Dave Beauregard (0 points) bring up the rear.

For their part, Ouellette and Bourgeois started the day on the right foot in the Charlevoix group by winning 1 up ahead of Alexis Poudrier (Grand-Mère) and Simon Camirand (Simon Camirand Golf Academy). Then, a few hours later, they once again found their way to a 2-up victory against Félix-Antoine Froment (Richelieu Valley) and Brandon Rattray (Richelieu Valley).

Winner in the morning, the team of Frédéric Raymond (La Tempête) and Sonny Michaud (La Tempête) escaped with a 1-up victory against the duo of Poudrier and Camirand to join Blanchard and Houle in the lead.

Poudrier and Camirand are tied for third place with the duo of Froment and Rattrayé. It should be noted that all the games in this group ended on the 18th hole in an extremely tough competition at the beginning of the tournament.

On the senior side, the duos of Marc Foucault (Marc Foucault Golf Academy) / Kévin Sénécal (Le Maître) and Gregg Cuthill (Whitlock) / Martin Plante (Balmoral) had a flawless day and sit at the top of the Hotel and Casino groups.

Foucault and Sénécal first defeated Chris Callihoo (Saint-Raphaël) and Daniel Santerre (Beaconsfield) 2 up, before reserving the same fate to Martin Marchessault (Pinegrove) and Constant Priondolo (Pinegrove) by winning 6 & 5 to finish the day with 4 points in the standings.

Cuthill and Plante won their first duel of Day 2 & 1 against Marc Girouard (Le Blainvillier) and Marc Hurtubise (Vieux Village). They then triumphed 3 & 2 in a second round against Joey Bissegger (South Shore) and Tom Bisseger (South Shore).

Note that Calihoo and Santerre are provisionally tied at two points with Carl Anctil (Les Cèdres) and Angie Éthier (Parcours du Cerf), as are the teams of Marc Girouard / Marc Hurtubise and Ben Boudreau (Parcours du Cerf) / Jean Laforce (Montcalm) in the other group.

The Marchessault/Priondolo and Bissegger/Bissegger tandems occupy the fourth rungs.

All the duos will be back on the course at the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu on Tuesday morning to play the final preliminary round of the Hôtel-Casino Charlevoix Cup. The leaders of each division at the end of this third round will then move on to the grand final for the two titles at stake.

A success for the Pro-Am !

Less than 24 hours earlier, the participants of the Coupe Hôtel-Casino Charlevoix played alongside several fans as part of the Pro-Am day, which proved to be a great success.

We would like to highlight the victories of the teams composed of Brandon Rattray, Michel Vachon, Micheline Rochon Lavigne and Daniel Daigneault, as well as that of Marc Foucault, Emmanuel Perot, Frank Philippe and Nelson Villeneuve, who both finished the day at -14 (58) under the Vegas 4-a-side formula.
